LAMINGTON CRAYFISH

LAMINGTON CRAYFISH  Euastacus sulcatus  [04:00]

ELEBANA FALLS, LAMINGTON NP, GOLD COAST QLD

In contrast to red/brown coloration of most spiny crayfish, the Lamington species is a vibrant blue/green with splashes of white.  Living in freshwater holes & burrows it can often be encountered trudging along rainforest tracks. One imagines it could be just searching for new friendship or, in times of low rainfall, seeking a fuller pool. Or maybe it's just out for a walk.
