LEAF-TAILED GECKO

LEAF-TAILED GECKO  Saltuarius swaini    [04:58]

LAMINGTON NP, GOLD COAST QLD

[ camera ]  Panasonic Varicam HDC-27 With their environmentally-adaptive ability the leaf-tail is a master of camouflage, almost impossible to see against rainforest textures until movement gives them away. A wet tongue constantly moistens their eyes to maintain extremely sensitive nocturnal vision. The red clusters around this one's eyes are believed to be a kind of rainforest fungus.
